Look for the greatest value for your money rather than the lowest price.—Scott
Scott Pesch, owner of Ability Contractors, is a smart, reliable general contractor with broad expertise in both residential and commercial construction. This former New York Port Authority Engineer can expertly guide you in historic home restoration, remodeling, additions or new home construction on flat land or LA’s tricky hillsides. His listening skills and ability to translate architectural ideas into reality ensure that his clients’ homes are not only beautiful, but also safe and solid.
Scott’s approach is simple: be honest, be thorough and take the long view on client satisfaction. Over 90% of Scott’s work comes from word-of-mouth recommendations from happy clients.
Decades of experience allow Scott to produce thorough cost breakdowns so that his clients understand their project’s costs before the project starts. He maintains good communication with his clients and visits job sites regularly. Scott explains: “Proper supervision gets the job done right the first time, heading off problems and keeping the project always moving forward.”
Scott goes to extraordinary lengths to minimize the impact that this work has on his clients’ lives, keeping the worksite clean.
Scott brings each project in on time and on budget. “I take on every project with the client’s best interest in mind,” he says. It’s this determination and concern for his clients that drive Scott in his work, as he continues to build a reputation as solid as his homes.
Ability Contractors built two very large dog runs for us that connect to the foundation of our house. We interviewed a bunch of other contractors prior to deciding upon Scott's company. One of the big reasons we liked him was he listened to what we wanted. The other contractors kept trying to make things the way they wanted, which was not functional for our needs. I felt Scott’s price was more than fair and we are truly satisfied with everything he has done. We are hiring Scott to remodel our kitchen, family room and two bedrooms this coming winter. He is a fantastic contractor and we feel lucky to have found him.

When my wife and I decided to open a bakery, we didn't have to look far to find a great contractor. Our neighbor had recently hired Ability to remodel his house and it looked so amazing, I asked him for Scott's number. We've been working with Ability for a little over a year now; first as a consultant while we were still scouting locations and now as our primary contractor. We are still in the middle of the project, but the work they have done so far has been outstanding. They are professional and easy to work with. At first, we thought that they would be out of our price range, but Scott was very flexible and we were able to work out a deal that we are both comfortable with. It has been a pleasure to get to know Scott and his crew personally. They really feel like family now!

Ability Contractors re-structured and shored up our garage. They were punctual, honest, straightforward, knowledgeable, and effective. Before making my choice, I received four different bids. The others wanted me to hire a structural engineer, which was unnecessary with Scott as that is his background. I was extremely satisfied with the quality of the workmanship as well as the timing. Scott absolutely sticks to his pricing, and completes projects so that no follow-up is necessary. I would have no problem referring Ability to anybody looking for this service.

Some people give you what you want, and some people give you what you need. Scott Pesch of Ability Contractors is the guy who will give you what you didn’t even realize was possible. My wife and I have lived in our house for 15 years. It was old when we got it and we knew that we would have to gut it and re-do it. We’ve been dreading this for 15 years because we heard all the horror stories about everything that can go wrong. Scott has made this so totally painless that I definitely would consider doing another re-model.
I tend to be a stickler for details, and when I point something out to Scott, he says, “Yes, and here is something else we can do,” thinking of things that would never even occur to me. All of the suggestions he makes are about improving the quality of the project as a whole, not increasing the bid. Scott far surpasses the necessary building codes and remains concerned with creating value for people, as opposed to chasing every dollar. I have referred him to at least six other friends.
