Our Review

When a loved one needs help with daily activities due to age or illness, she or he will likely prefer an in-home caregiver to a care center. “We allow people the dignity to age in place,” says Linda Taylor, co-owner of CarenetLA, a family-owned agency since 2004. The CarenetLA team will help you find an experienced, compassionate and pre-screened elder- or home- caregiver for nearly any situation.

Linda and Jeff’s daughter, Hadas, a Registered Nurse and Certified Senior Advisor, conducts thorough intakes to get to know clients, their needs, and medications. She also ensures the home is senior- friendly and safe. After selecting an appropriate caregiver, CarenetLA follows up to ensure the quality of care and handles long-term care insurance paperwork.

The emphasis is on choosing people who consider caregiving a “calling” rather than just a job. Potential employees must have at least one year of experience, pass a background check, have a clean driving record and working vehicle, be CPR certified and read, write and speak English fluently—a crucial skillset when communicating to a doctor or relaying information to the family.

Linda and her family love their work: “It’s rewarding and worthwhile,” says Jeff Taylor, CarenetLA’s chief operating officer. “We help so many people while putting lots of good caregivers to work.”

Carenet LA has provided caregivers for my invalid wife for several years. Recently, it was necessary to increase the caregiving to 24/7. I chose Carenet LA because of their high BBB rating, the recommendation of our CPA, and their close proximity. When our next-door neighbor needed caregiving services, we confidently recommended this company. Now, she too, is a very satisfied Carenet LA client.

The caregivers provided are bonded, experienced, friendly, accommodating, easy to speak with, punctual, and have a strong work ethic. Whenever one is unavailable for her scheduled work shift, Carenet LA always provides a suitable substitute. I like knowing taxes and CDI are withheld from their pay and that they participate in our Social Security system. I also like knowing I may include this cost when I itemize our tax deductions for medical expenses. I recommend anyone in need of in-home caregiving for a loved one to consider choosing this company.

Carenet LA provides caregivers for my wife while I am away in my office. They were referred to us by one of her doctors and have been providing services to us for about four years. Their service is outstanding and very helpful and they provide caring, punctual, diligent, kind people. I also like the follow up they provide, calling from the office to make sure everything is OK. I am happy with the service and would not want to change anything.

My experience with Carenet was fabulous. They looked after my husband who is now deceased. The first thing they did was a long and detailed intake. I was surprised at everything they asked to make sure that our needs would be met. The caretakers were extremely professional, very warm, attentive, caring and did more than we anticipated. I only know what I see, so every day I’d come back and ask how things went. My husband would let me know how well they took care of him. They did everything one could expect, in a professional, but caring manner My husband was extremely comfortable with them.
Carenet has very fair rates. I have asked around, and people who don’t use agencies pay virtually the same, but without the vetting process. The scheduling was flexible—they didn’t make us stick to so many hours for so many days. If we called for an extra day, there was always someone available to cover. We were never left without help.

I found out about Carenet from my neighbor who uses them and is very pleased. Carenet has been so helpful! They are very accommodating. You couldn’t ask for a nicer person than the girl who helps me. Vanessa has been with me for a year now. I have neuropathy in both legs. I can take care of myself to a point, but I can’t drive anymore and need help with certain things. Vanessa comes three times a week to drive me places, do light housekeeping and help me with bathing. At first I only needed someone one day a week, but as the neuropathy has progressed, I need help more often. If I have a doctor’s appointment on a day Vanessa isn’t coming, and she is busy, Carenet sends me a substitute. The people they send are excellent.

We can’t say enough good things about our family’s experience with Carenet LA! Our mother has two regular caregivers--both very professional and kind people. They are good companions to my mom and they’ve truly become part of the family. We don’t know what we’d do without them.

Our mom wants to stay in her house, despite declining health, and without around-the-clock care, this would not be possible. Initially, we were concerned it could be a difficult adjustment for her (she had been so independent), but it went smoothly, due in large part to the efforts of the caregivers. They are competent and discreet, and they respect her need for privacy. With them, she retains her dignity and is comfortable in her home. And, it doesn’t hurt that they are good cooks and willing to pitch in with light housekeeping! We trust them hands down, and often rely on them to take Mom to medical appointments. If the caregivers weren’t thorough and knowledgeable, this wouldn’t be possible.

We interviewed a number of companies before selecting Carenet LA. We felt good about their approach and what they had to say. They take care in vetting and hiring their employees and we liked that they do not use independent contractors. We discussed continuing education and their concern for employee well-being, which we can see in the quality of people that work for them.

A lot goes on behind the scenes and communication with their staff has been great. There have been a few bumps with insurance coverage, but Carenet LA’s paperwork is thorough and they have taken extra time and effort to work it out with our provider. Their scheduling is first-rate; we know we can depend on daily coverage, no matter what may come up.

This past year, big changes were made to California wage and labor regulations which meant greater expense for clients. We appreciated how Carenet LA met with us personally to explain what was happening and problem-solved to minimize the impact. Home care is not an inexpensive proposition, but we feel it is well worth it. You just can’t put a value on having your mother happy and safe in her own home where she wants to be, and the peace of mind that comes with knowing she is well cared for!
