Residential Shelter Transforms Lives of Pregnant Women and Children
ELIZABETH HOUSE HAS TRANSFORMED THE LIVES of hundreds of women and children through a residential shelter program for homeless pregnant women. The organization also provides therapeutic services, case management, job training, and education on how to raise happy, healthy youth. Elizabeth House gives women the tools they need to secure the future they envision for themselves but don’t know how to attain.
Through mentors, teachers, therapists, volunteers and staff, Elizabeth House curbs the effects of broken homes, drug abuse, domestic violence and other negative forces in women’s lives. The loving atmosphere of the House allows women a safe space to heal themselves and nurture their families without external stressors.
Via the alumni program and newly established Alumni Center, women receive follow-up care and support to help them maintain their independence once they leave.
After 24 years, Elizabeth House remains the only nonprofit in the San Gabriel Valley that takes in pregnant women and their children. With expanding resources, the group looks forward to having a solid and meaningful impact on the surrounding community.
