The Wildwoods Foundation uses experiences in nature to help urban youth understand the parallels between natural ecosystems and a healthy, functioning society. The organization’s curriculum springs from the motto “Building Community by Exploring Nature” and drives the Wildwoods staff who work both in the field and in the classroom. Wildwoods gives kids tools to become caring, responsible members of their communities.
Wildwoods’ programs have reached thousands of students and helped them understand that diversity and interdependence are essential to both natural ecosystems and the social fabric of our human communities.
In supporting Wildwoods, we help cultivate a new generation of dynamic leaders who care about their fellow citizens and the environment. Wildwoods is the proud recipient of the 2012 Governor’s Environmental and Economic Leadership Award in the Environmental Education category, a well deserved recognition of the positive impact Wildwoods is having on the next generation of Angelenos.
"The Wildwoods Foundation teaches individuals to understand and apply the principles of ecology to achieve harmony in our communities.”
